November 12, 2012

It has been so unbelievably hectic the past couple of weeks..... wait, make that the last several months......

Since I'd posted the last time, we have wrapped up the planting.... YEAH!!!!!!  All the daylilies are crammed into 2 beds...... and I ended up with a total of 2725 daylilies planted! This is the former veggie garden and it's 2065 occupants.

And here is the smaller bed with it's 660 plants.
In case you can't tell, they are packed in like sardines but they will be moved around next spring or summer....

To say I am thrilled they are planted would be an understatement, but they do still need to be mulched. I think we were getting the planting done just in time since the weather seems to be getting crazier all the time.

November 3, we had some NASTY thunderstorms and even had hail.......
And then this week, we've enjoyed spring-like temperatures before the bottom fell out today. We had a front that moved through and dumped 1.4" of rain and then cooled off and we got our first snow of the season...........

Luckily, it was that nice wet stuff that was gone in a little while but it did have a nice coating on my car!

I shot this picture from the front porch. See the board fence down at the road?  There is a wonderful view on beyond that fence.......

That's one thing I do like about the leaves falling..... I love to look at the cabin.

Saturday, I decided I was going to take a break so drove to just south of Dayton, OH for the Shirley Farmer Midwest Hybridizer's meeting. I had a lot of fun and just couldn't resist bidding on a nice proliferation from "What A Treasure". At least it is potted up and I don't have to dig any more holes...lol

And we still have blooms though I figure today will come close to wiping them out.....
Here's "Circus"
And how about Will Goodwin?

And the ornamental pepper is still looking gorgeous......................................

But I realize, outdoor gardening is coming to an end for this season and it leaves me with such mixed feelings. I hate to see winter coming but I am so tired that I need a little bit of a break. This Degenerative Disk Disease is so flared up, I'm walking like I'm 90.  Here again, we start overtime next Monday. Thank goodness, it's just the one day so far but then it starts in earnest on December 10. Hopefully, by then, the
2 X 4's will all be stacked and dry. Mom and I took all the waterbeds apart yesterday.  Then there is also the brush pile to chip and the rest of the flower pots to cart back to the shed and put away for the winter...... Oh and the shed to straighten out that is piled full of the stuff I brought with me from Ohio......

Did I say I was going to take a break? Forget it. I don't have time!

At least I should get to enjoy some blooms. Mom's Christmas Cactus plants are in full bloom now with lots more coming on. Did I tell you that I have 50+ different Christmas Cactus? I guess that's my other obsession..... lol

Here are a few of Mom's plants.

Now it's getting a wee bit late..... actually it feels a whole lot late. I was up at 3 AM Saturday morning to make the drive to Ohio for the Shirley Farmer meeting. After I left there, I went through Hamilton to see the grandsons and it was approaching midnight when I got home. Then Mom's little angels woke me at about 5 AM and wanted outside..... lol.

This little sweetie is Aspen.

Now ...... til the next time.......
